S1GP OF PIEMONTE IS BACK IN BUSCA

Busca (Italy), 27 June 2024 –  The S1GP World Championship third round of the season will take place next weekend at the Kart Planet circuit of Busca, in the province of Cuneo, Italy, The one month break before this appoitment allowed teams to work and get ready for this important event.

In S1GP Thomas Chareyre (Team SGR Grau Racing) won the first two rounds and is now leading the standings on his Honda CRF 450R. After leaving the factory TM Team, until a few months before the start it seemed like the multiple time French Champion could have missed the World Championship, but Angel Grau proposed to him this adventure and the rider found the right motivation to face the season and be even more competitive for the final victory.

Right behind him, with a 14-point gap, Marc Reiner Schmidt (L30 Racing TM Moto) did not seem very confident like the previous seasons at the first race in Spain. Maybe the defending World Champions was just trying to define the right set up for his Tm 450. In Sardinia Schmidt was the protagonist and won 2 motos out of 3 with Chareyre, author of a masterpiece, who took away the victory from the German rider in the final lap of the Super Final. Schmidt will get to Busca willing to close the gap dividing him from his rival.

The battle for third place will be between rookie Julen Avila Cortes (KTM MTR Racing) and Elia Sammartin (Team Gazza Racing). Leaving behind the thrilling performance registered in Sardinia, Sammartin will get to Busca after the victory of the Italian Championship taken at the Piedmontese track in front of Marc Reiner Schmidt.

In the Rookie Class Julen Avila Cortes is leading the standings with maximum points in front of the Team 11 riders, French Tim Slazai and young Jan Ulmann.

In Busca the Junior European Championship will get back to track and three riders will be ready to battle it out for the victory of the desired trophy. Defending Champion Andrea Benvenuti (KTM MTR Racing) won the first round of Spain thanks to two first places, followed by Ukrainian Yevsevii Kovalyov (Husqvarna) and third qualified Nathan Terraneo (KTM). Both are ready to take the supremacy away from the Italian rider.

The S4 European Cup will take place at the same time of the GP of Piemonte, with a single race. In the entry list there are riders who are also enrolled in the FIM Junior GP Championship, Andrea Bertola (Team Gazza Racing) in Moto3, and Alberto Surra (KTM) and Mattia Rato (TM) in Moto2.
