MARC-REINER SCHMIDT HOME HERO

St. Wendel (Germany) 31st May 2025 – Race One was packed with emotions despite wet track conditions. Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11) was the author of a phenomenal victory and qualified in front of Elia Sammartin (BRT Honda RedMoto) and Lukas Hollbacher (Schruf Racing). French Payet (KTM) was the best Rookie rider, winner of his category.

Time Practice & SuperPole S1GP

The time practices offered a great show with three riders stars of the session. Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11), Lukas Hollbacher (Schruf Racing) and Steve Bonnal (TSV Racing Factory Team TM Corse) had an unbeatable rhythm which rivals could not keep. Austrian Lukas Hollbacher was the fastest rider of Q1 and finished in front of Marc Reiner Schmidt and Steve Bonnal. Elia Sammartin (BRT Honda RedMoto) was the author of an excellent performance and moved to fourth position. In Q2 Hollbacher set the best time one more time and, as in Q1, prevailed over his closest rivals. The top 9 riders joined the second round of the qualifying and registered several track limits which caused the loss of several results for many riders but did not change the outcome. Julen Avila Cortes (KTM Mtr) had to feel happy with fourth place, only 89 thousandth-of-a-second from third place. Milan Sitniansky (Honda) was fifth and the German wild card, Eddy Frech (KTM), completed the second row. The Super Pole is the last round of the qualifying, where the best three riders battle it out for the pole position with the fastest lap. Steve Bonnal was the first one to get to the track and confirmed his time. Both Marc Reiner Schmidt and Lukas Hollbacher made minor mistakes giving the green light to the French rider who achieved his second pole position in a row.

Race One

A heavy thunderstorm caused the delay of Race One of more than one hour in order to assure safe riding conditions. As the red lights blinked off Marc Reiner Schmidt took advantage of Steve Bonnal’s indecision and took the lead of the pack. In the first laps Schmidt opened a gap. Behind the front duo, after a great start Elia Sammartin moved to third place but was overtaken by Lukas Hollbacher after the first two laps. Twists were not over because with three laps to go Steve Bonnal slipped and lost several positions. Immediately after that also Frech slipped and crashed in the final jump of the off-road. Elia Sammartin moved up to second place and had to defend himself from Lukas Hollbacher till the checkered flag. In the Rookies, French Raphael Payet (KTM) came home with the victory.
