ALBAIDA INAUGURATES 2026 SEASON

Albaida (Spain), 25 March 2026 – The weekend of March 28 and 29 marks the return of high-speed action on both asphalt and dirt. The Spanish circuit of Albaida, nestled in the picturesque setting of the Valencian Community, is preparing to host the opening round of the SuperMoto World and European Championship. This year’s event carries unprecedented expectations: it is not just the first race of the year, but the beginning of an era where new manufacturers and veterans of the discipline will clash in an explosive mix of technique and adrenaline.

The Albaida track is considered one of the temples of European Supermoto, loved by riders for its flow and feared for its technical pitfalls. With a total length of approximately 1.200 meters, the track offers an extremely complete layout that puts both the bikes’ chassis and the athletes’ physical preparation to the test.

The asphalt section, characterized by a high-grip surface, features a finish straight where the power of the 450cc engines is fully unleashed, followed by violent braking zones and variable-radius corners that require surgical precision in line choice.

The Off-Road Section: The true “tipping point” of the race. The dirt section of Albaida is famous for its spectacular jumps and sandy berms. The transition between asphalt and dirt is sudden and requires extreme sensitivity, as it is here that decisive overtakes often occur and the gap between the leaders and the chasers is widened.

In S1GP the competition has never been so fierce TSV Racing Factory Team Steve Bonnal, riding the official TM Moto, is banking on the perfect agility of the Pesaro-made bike in the mixed sections of the Spanish track. There is great anticipation for Team Undici Marc Reiner Schmidt who is debuting with Ducati: the German-Italian duo will look to exploit every horsepower of the Bolognese engine on the Albaida straights. Defending the Italian “Tricolore” will be BRT Elia Sammartin on his Honda RedMoto, ready to make his clean riding style count on a circuit where error is always around the corner. The Spanish Julen Avila Cortes, 2025 S4 European Champion, always supported by KTM MTR will do his best on his country soil. The French Gabin Pernat this season will be part of a new team, Suzuki Insane,  with his teammate and fellow countryman Adrien Sarda. Another new 2026 team is Two4Two Fantic Racing with the young Czech rider Jan Ulman. TMS Tuning Motorsport line up the Czech Jonas Nedved, the Sweden Kevin Karlsson and the return of Brazilian Justino Kleber. Gazza Racing Honda Red Moto is back in S1GP with the European S2 Champion Melvin Viola and his debut in FIM SuperMoto World Championship together with the Swiss Mitja Krasniqi and the French Colin Beischroth.

Wild cards of the event with some others many riders will be the Spanish Ferran Cardus, SGR Team who will do his best in front his public, a total of 25 riders will line up at Albaida for the start of one of the most compelling World Championships in recent years.

The weekend will see the battle ignite in the S2 class that presents itself as a true “talent forge,” where new riders from various motorcycling disciplines will seek to showcase their skills on such technical terrain. Mechanical balance and the audacity of the youth will be the keys to emerging from a compact group that promises sparks in every heat.

Based on last year’s standings, with some riders having moved up to S1GP, the favourite would seem to be the Belgian TSV RACING FACTORY TEAM Noah Champagne followed by italian Team Undici Leonardo Lapadula and Spanish Max Serra Ginesta. Let’s see the Ukrainian Yevsevii Kovalov, 2025 European Junior Champion to fight in this class.

Last but not least the spotlight is on SM JUNIOR, the preparatory class dedicated to the very young. Albaida will be the first testing ground to understand which of tomorrow’s champions possesses the right stuff to handle the complexity of jumps and high speeds, in a growth path that represents the lifeblood of international Supermoto. Favourtites riders fof the battle at the Title are the Hungarian David Zsolt Bereczki, German Lorenz Bang and Polish Klemens Irzyk.
