Time practice & Superpole S1GP
The qualifying sessions of this second round of the S1GP World Championship saw Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11) as the true dominant force; right from free practice, the German rider aboard the Ducati was consistently the fastest, managing to set exceptional times. In Q1, Marc Reiner Schmidt tried to find the right lines to best interpret the Sardinia Circuit track but still achieved the best performance. Elia Sammartin (BRT Factory Team) immediately felt at ease, setting the second-best time very close to Schmidt. Third was Steve Bonnal (TSV Racing), while the current world championship leader, Julen Avila Cortes (KTM MTR Team), did not shine, finishing with the seventh-fastest time. An excellent performance came from Finnish rider Eemeli Astedt (KTM), who finished fourth.
Q2 once again saw the fastest time set by Marc Reiner Schmidt, with Sammartin second and Bonnal third; these were the riders who won the direct right to fight for the superpole in a single flying lap. This time Schmidt made no mistakes and, with a perfect lap, improved even further, going on to take his first pole position of the season ahead of Elia Sammartin and Steve Bonnal.

Race One
When the red lights went out, it was Steve Bonnal who took the lead of the race at the first corner, but his leadership lasted only a few turns; Marc Reiner Schmidt, with a decisive attack, moved ahead of everyone. The German rider immediately set a high pace, which saw him pull out a small advantage. Behind him, Steve Bonnal tried to defend himself from Elia Sammartin; it took the Italian rider a few laps to move into second position, but “Samma” then began to string together fast laps and, lap after lap, closed the gap to Schmidt. In the final 5 laps, Sammartin tried to find the right opening to take the lead—the Italian rider was making the difference in the two dirt sections—but he couldn’t make the pass stick, and Schmidt crossed the finish line with a very slim margin over his rival. Third position went to Steve Bonnal, while the current red plate holder Julen Avila Cortes finished in fourth place. Leading the Rookie Cup standings is the Finnish rider Eemeli Astedt.
