Visonta (Hungary) 3 September 2026 — The FIM Supermoto World Championship enters a crucial and heated phase of the 2026 season, this wee-end the technical track of Visonta, Hungary, will play host to the fifth and penultimate round of the world calendar. An unmissable event that will not only feature intense battles for the lead in the S1GP, S2, and SM Junior categories, but will also mark the highly anticipated return to racing of the S4 European Championship, the class reserved for tarmac-only specialists.
The premier S1GP class arrives in Hungary with an incredibly tight and unpredictable standings. German champion Marc Reiner Schmidt (260 points, Team Undici) maintains his lead in the general standings, but holds just a 6-point advantage over Frenchman Steve Bonnal (254 points, TSV Racing Factory Team), who is having an extraordinary season. Riding high as a third contender in the championship battle is Spaniard Julen Avila Cortes (249 points, KTM MTR), trailing the top spot by only 11 points.
Defending Italian honors is Elia Sammartin BRT Factory Team, solid in 4th position with 212 points, ready to seize every opportunity to push for a world championship podium.
In the S2 European Championship, Italy leads the way thanks to Team Undici Leonardo Lapadula, current championship leader with 179 points. Lapadula will have to defend the red plate against attacks from Ukrainian rider Yevsevil Kovalov, second just 8 points behind (171 pt). Third place belongs to Swiss rider Nathan Terraneo (155 pt).
Visonta round marks the return to action for the only asphalt S4 European Championship final round that will crown the 2026 Champion. Edoardo Bertola firmly in command of the general standings with 133 points, thanks to excellent performances and victories in previous rounds. Pushing hard behind him are strong Spanish riders Franc Gomez Requena (121 pt) and Alex Gourdon Rafael (102 pt). Among the Italians competing, eyes are also on Antonino Achille Navarria (4th with 96 pt) and Alessandro Sciarretta (8th with 70 pt).
In the SM Junior youth category, local rider David Zsolt Bereczki arrives in Visonta with an impeccable record: 200 points scored out of 200 available (8 wins out of 8 races). Romanian Mark Szabo (168 pt) and German Lorenz Bang (162 pt) follow in second and third place.
