MARC-REINER SCHMIDT WINNER AND STAR IN VISONTA

Visonta (Hungary) 12 July – After missing the pole position which went to Steve Bonnal (TSV Racing Factory Team TM Corse), Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11) was the undiscussed winner of the first race of the weekend. Second place went to Milan Sitniansky (Honda) and Lukas Hollbacher (Schruf Racing) was third. Jan Ulman (Team 11) triumphed in the Rookies Cup.

Time practice & Superpole S1GP

The rain that fell during the break forced riders to use rain tyres in the first laps. However, the track dried up quickly and riders had to stop at the pit lane to change tyres. Marc Reiner Schmidt (Team 11) set his dominant race pace and took the best time, followed by the revelation Milan Sitniansky (Honda) and Steve Bonnal (TSV Racing Factory Team TM Corse) in third. Lukas Hollbacher (Schruf Racing), currently in second place in the World Championship standings, did not find the right feeling with the track of Visonta.

In Q2 Marc Reiner Schmidt was once again the fastest rider on track and took the provisional pole position, while behind him Milan Sitniansky and Steve Bonnal battled it out for second place which went to the French rider after his last attempt. Lukas Hollbacher clearly struggled a lot during the race and had to settle for fourth place with Elia Sammartin (BRT Honda Redmoto) fifth. Surprising Romain Kaivers (TSV Racing Factory Team TM Corse) rounded off the second row.

In the final moments of such thrilling qualifying for the Super Pole, Steve Bonnal triumphed and came home with the pole position which will make him start from the first place of the starting grid. Marc Reiner Schmidt made a small mistake which made him lose one tenth of a second so that he lost first place. Milan Sitniansky was third.

Race One

The first moments of the first race of the weekend were packed with emotions. During the warm-up Steve Bonnal slipped but luckily the rider was able to stay on track and line up in the starting grid. As the red lights blinked off Bonnal did not pull away and four riders overtook him. Marc Reiner Schmidt moved to the front followed by Milan Sitniansky and Lukas Hollabacher. At the end of the first lap Steve Bonnal crashed in the corner before the finish line and lost several positions. Thanks to an unbelievable race pace Marc Reiner Schmidt left all rivals far behind and managed the second part of his solo race. Sitniansky and Hollbacher battled it out during all the 15 laps of the race, but the Austrian rider did not make it to second place. Elia Sammartin ended up fourth and Romain Kaivers fifth after an excellent performance. Jan Ulman was sixth and best rider of the Rookies Cup. Steve Bonnal finished in the last positions with the ninth spot.
