ALESSANDRO SCIARRETTA WINS S4, NATHAN TERRANEO DOMINATES S2, AND MARK SZABO VICTORIOUS IN SM JUNIOR

Visonta, September 6 – In front of an incredible crowd, Francisco Gomez Requena (GasGas) was crowned the new S4 European Champion, though his title remains sub judice pending a decision by the FIM in the coming weeks. Taking overall victory for the day was Alessandro Sciarretta (TSV Racing), while Nathan Terraneo (Yamaha) delivered an unchallenged performance in the S2 class, and Mark Szabo (Husqvarna) took home the win along with the new red plate in SM Junior.

S4 Race 2

Pure spectacle in this second S4 race: off the line, Francisco Gomez Requena (GasGas) managed to hold onto the lead. Alessandro Sciarretta (TSV Racing) pulled up alongside the Spanish rider with an incredible start, but made a small mistake and, to avoid washing out, lost several positions, crossing the line in sixth place on the opening lap. Alex Gourdon Rafael (Husqvarna) immediately set off in pursuit of the leader, taking command on lap five and building up a comfortable gap. Alessandro Sciarretta was the absolute star of the race: the Italian rider put on a thrilling comeback with high-stakes overtakes, climbing all the way back to second place. Sciarretta tried to close the gap, but with only a few laps remaining time ran out. Third place went to Francisco Gomez Requena, who fought tooth and nail to defend his position all the way to the checkered flag.

S4 Race 3

In the final race of the European Championship that was set to decide the winner, Francisco Gomez Requena took the lead at the start, followed by Alex Gourdon Rafael, who took control of the lead at the second corner. Gourdon Rafael managed to stay ahead for nine laps, but Gomez Requena refused to settle and overtook his rival to reclaim the lead. The Spanish rider looked set for victory, but during the final lap, his bike suffered a mechanical issue, forcing him to retire and handing the win to his rival. Behind them, a fierce battle unfolded between Kamil Krzemien, Alessandro Sciarretta, and Iglesias Barco, who finished in that order. The championship standings would have named Alex Gourdon Rafael as the new champion, but following a protest, the Spanish rider was disqualified, making Francisco Gomez Requena the 2026 S4 European Champion, though the result remains sub judice. With the change in standings, the overall victory for the day was awarded to Alessandro Sciarretta.

S2 Race 1

Nathan Terraneo (Yamaha) did not make a single mistake in this first S2 race. With a flawless start, the Swiss rider took the lead and set an incredible pace over the opening laps that no rival could match. Off the line, Leonardo Lapadula (Team 11) lost his position to Yevsevii Kovalov (Husqvarna); while trying to make a pass to recover, the Italian rider made a mistake that dropped him down the order. Mark Iovita (GasGas) took third place, followed by Noah Champagne (TSV Racing), but the Romanian rider also slid out, losing the opportunity to secure a top result. Leonardo Lapadula staged a strong comeback to secure third place.

S2 Race 2

Another great performance for Nathan Terraneo: the Swiss rider didn’t make a single mistake, putting together a perfect start and incredible race management. In the opening laps, Terraneo focused on pulling away to build a comfortable gap before managing the second half of the race. In the final laps, Yevsevii Kovalov tried to close the gap, but ran out of time. Third place went to Leonardo Lapadula, who tried to match the Ukrainian rider’s pace in the early laps but couldn’t keep up and settled for his position. In the championship standings, Leonardo Lapadula remains the leader despite Yevsevii Kovalov’s better finish; Nathan Terraneo edges closer in the points, setting up a three-way battle for the European Championship title at the final round in Mettet, Belgium.

SM Junior Race 1

Pole sitter Mark Szabo (Husqvarna) made no mistake off the line and immediately took the lead. Behind him, Lorenz Bang (KTM) failed to capitalize on his starting spot and was passed by Jean Rondeaux (TM Moto), who moved up to second thanks to a great start. Over the opening laps, positions settled as Szabo pulled away from his rivals. In second place, Rondeaux couldn’t match the leader’s pace, but behind him Lorenz Bang made a few minor mistakes and never posed a threat. Liliana Irzyk, the only female rider in the race, delivered an impressive performance to finish in fifth position.

SM Junior Race 2

Mark Szabo proved untouchable for all his rivals in this race as well: following a great start, the Romanian rider pulled away and led all ten laps out front without coming under threat. Jean Rondeaux, who was running in second place during the opening laps, slid out on the dirt section and dropped several positions. Edward Darnton (TSV Racing) moved into second place, securing the runner-up spot on the overall podium with this result, while Lorenz Bang finished third.
